Hi everyone and welcome to my latest recipe! Today I am going to show you how to make a Samosa from scratch! If you want to skip ahead use these links:
Ingredients:
- Fillo pastry (two packets, 8 sheets per pack)
- 500-600g of minced meat
- 2 medium potatoes (or 3 small potatoes)
- 1 egg (large or medium)
- Herbs (optional) – I put mint
- Cumin (optional)- you could put more than one if you like
- 3 segments of garlic
How to make the inside:
Step 1. First take a frying pan and put in some chopped up garlic in a bit of oil. Leave until the garlic turns a golden colour.
Step 2. When this happens you can take your meat separated and put it inside the pan. You can add in your cumin or any other spices you want.

Step 3. On the side get your potatoes warmed up (in the microwave) until soft and then mash them up (without the skin) into a separate bowl.

Step 4. Once the meat is cooked let it simmer in the pan then when you have finished mashing your potato pour meat into your bowl with potatoes and mix together.

Step 5. Cut some herbs (mint) up into thin strips and add to mixture.

Step 6. Add one whole egg and mix together.

Step 7. Let the mixture cool down and whilst this is happening get your fillo pastry out.

How to fold the Samosa:
After you have made the inside you want to start folding it in the puff pastry. This, in my opinion, is probably the hardest part of the Samosa. Below I have drawn a little diagram of how to fold the Samosa. As I said it is quite tricky so if you can’t manage you could look online.

Here is your Samosa:
